Selenga Mangili put AFC Leopards in the fore front during the 38th minute to break the deadlock that was set by the two teams as they took head over heals at the Nyayo Stadium over the weekend.
The goal was released by Itubu Imbem to find his counterpart Mangili whose shot was registered behind the net.
Seconds later amidst all the confusion United’s boat nearly sank deeper when the home team captain Peter Mwangi got a lose ball outside the box and his shot beat Okello to hit the bar a move that made the visitors technical bench stumble.
AFC were re-energized and their fans were on top of their voices being sure that they would get another goal but a run by Abdalla Abdalla who scooped a ball from a struggling Franklyn Osama paved way for hope as he cut through the defense as he encouraged Ali Kenga to beat the off side trap and passed the ball to him and a one two play to Abdalla shrilled silence across the stadium as efforts to recover seemed evident.
Minutes earlier a free kick taken by Kepha Aswani just outside the box would have created an opener but it was deflected and rolled dangerously out of play giving way to a corner kick.
United’s Patrick Otieno missed the great opportunity of putting his team in the fore front when he beat the host’s keeper and place the ball in the area but Ali Kenga reported a second late.
With both teams having pressure to perform, the stadium was filled with cheers and jeers as the fans supported their teams stirring up the morale of the players.
But it was not until the 6th minute that Ali Kenga set the pace but his shot went over the bar
